UK Public Holidays 2013 Calendar

UK Public Holidays 2013 Calendar & UK Bank Holidays 2013 Calendar

Bank holiday is actually a term derived from the four days named in the Bank Holidays Act 1971 concerning 4 holidays in England, Wales, and Ireland, and 5 holidays in Scotland.

Now, the term is colloquially used for public holidays in the United Kingdom. Most people in UK is granted days off or extra pay for working on bank holidays even though there is no automatic right to paid leave on these days.

Since employees are not automatically granted days off on bank holidays in UK, the time off or extra pay for working on these days depends on the contract agreed by both the employees and the employers before the work begins.

Being formal subdivisions of the United Kingdom, England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland have their own bank holidays. As an illustration, Northern Island has St. Patrick’s Day as a holiday while Scotland has St. Andrew’s Day.
